CPOA donates $1,000 to the Foundation for the Undefeated
The California Peace Officers’ Association (CPOA) of Newport Beach recently made a $1,000 donation to the non-profit organization, Foundation for the Undefeated. The Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) chose the Foundation as the recipient for the donation, because they believe the Foundation is distinct from many of the other charitable organizations. The funds were raised from a Charity Barbeque Competition hosted by the CPOA Annual Training Symposium.
CPOA is a 94 year old organization that offers professional development and training to peace officers, so they can better perform their law enforcement duties. They have about 3,000 members across the state of California, who participate in annual training seminars and other networking events. You can visit http://www.cpoa.org/ for more information.
The donation from CPOA was accepted by Meredith Cagle, the Executive Director of the Foundation for the Undefeated. She noted that the money would assist The Foundation not only in advancing their mission, but also in supporting the work of Special Olympics Southern California.
The mission of the Foundation for the Undefeated is to highlight and share the stories of those who persevere in sports, and become a source of inspiration to others because of their endurance. The Foundation uses multiple channels to get these stories out including traditional media, and social media.
The Foundation for the Undefeated is based in Newport Beach, CA. It was started in 1976 by NFL alumnus Paul Salata. Throughout the years it has given recognition to those indomitable individuals who are able to achieve success and greatness in sports, despite seemingly insurmountable challenges.
One of the main events on the Foundation’s calendar is the annual ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ celebration, which is held to fete the last player selected in the annual NFL draft. The Foundation uses proceeds from this and similar events to assist other charities including Special Olympics, American Red Cross, YMCA, and Habitat for Humanity.
